This seemingly simple request is so important to me. I had also written my first poem with default spacing. But looking at the draft I felt an unease. The gaps were too wide between the lines, and my eyes were slipping between them. I had to jump from one line to another, to read the whole poem, instead of sliding over it as it should be.
