My father's job also meant that we had to move to a different city every 2-3 years so I also had to make new friends. I can relate when you said books can be a good escape from the social world where one might feel awkward. I've spent most of my teenage years buried in famous five, Nancy drew, hardy boys, Sherlock Holmes, Charles dickens, Premchand and many more. I gave up video games and TV for reading classics like The Secret Garden, A Christmas Carol, The Water Babies, The wind in the willows and many more timeless classics.
