I have to agree with the old man but for a different reason. Animals are able to take care of themselves, poor children often aren't. And if we keep feeding stray dogs their population will only increase. This has led to people being victim of such dogs late at night especially while driving back home (which can lead to accidents). Moreover, howling dogs spoil people's sleep especially the elderly folks or those who have to work the next day.

The main issue is that we have created our cities in the home of animals, by destroying their homes, the jungles. This is why many people sympathize with animals in cities. But feeding the animals neither helps the animals much nor does it help the people. Some NGOs are doing good work by taking care of animals but simply feeding and not taking care of their shelter or medical needs is not enough.

College students often feed dogs and maybe cats but what about other animals? What about cows, buffaloes, goats, pigs (is it because people eat them)? How can you be an animal lover when you only love dogs?

These and many other thoughts come to mind when I see someone feed dogs.
