I consider this to be a big issue.
One of my friends said that he only reads non-fiction and informational books because he wants to learn as much as possible and grow in his career while he is in his youthful years. He can read fiction once he retires. He probably hasn't read Dostoevsky or Charles Dickens, or perhaps the peer pressure is too high to learn as much as possible and be more productive and knowledgeable to grow in today's highly competitive world.
